NETPark's first Bake Off serves up a recipe for success
There was plenty of creativity on display at NETPark this week, as businesses and staff came together for the technology park's first ever Bake Off.
Swapping laboratories and offices for mixing bowls and baking trays, colleagues from across NETPark showcased their culinary talents, bringing along an impressive selection of homemade sweet and savoury treats.
The event brought together teams from NETPark businesses including Graphene Composites, STERIS, Magnitude Biosciences, Ascari and aXenic, alongside NETPark staff, for some friendly competition and an opportunity to catch up over a slice of cake.
From carefully decorated creations to delicious homemade favourites, there was no shortage of effort or enthusiasm, making the task of choosing the winners particularly challenging.
A tough job for the Bake Off judge
Taking on the important role of judging was former NETPark team member David Copperward, who returned to the park to put the entries to the taste test.
Well known for his appreciation of good food, David was the ideal person for the job, although with so many tempting entries to sample, it was certainly no easy task.
After much consideration, two bakers received special recognition.
Leigh Story was crowned Star Baker, recognised for her efforts in organising and bringing together an impressive range of bakes for the competition.
Anne Devine also received an award for her outstanding vegan Biscoff cake, which proved a particular favourite with the judge.
Bringing the NETPark community together
While the baking was the main attraction, the event was also a great opportunity for people working across NETPark to come together, meet colleagues from neighbouring businesses and enjoy some time away from their usual working day.
Home to more than 40 science and technology businesses and over 1,000 people, NETPark has a thriving community, with opportunities to connect and build relationships extending beyond the workplace.
Events like the Bake Off are an important part of that community, helping to bring people together, strengthen connections between businesses and make NETPark an enjoyable place to work.
A huge thank you to everyone who baked, helped organise the event or came along to support their colleagues, and congratulations to our winners.
Judging by the turnout, enthusiasm and quality of the entries, the first NETPark Bake Off certainly won't be the last!
