UK Defence Innovation has launched a new Security Open Call, offering funding of up to £350,000 for projects that could help address UK security challenges.
The call is open to innovative ideas with potential applications across public safety, national security and border protection. Areas of interest include:
Cyber resilience and secure data sharing
Screening and intrusion detection
Sensors and surveillance
Artificial intelligence and extended reality
Protective security technologies
Detection of hostile reconnaissance
Proposals should aim to produce a prototype or technology demonstration at Technology Readiness Level 6 or 7 and show a credible route towards operational use.
The opportunity could be relevant to businesses at NETPark working in advanced electronics, sensing, photonics, communications, digital technology and specialist materials, as well as companies considering how their existing technology could be applied within defence and security markets.
The first funding cycle closes on 27 August 2026.
