UK manufacturers must embrace next generation technologies and skills to remain competitive globally, Business Secretary Peter Kyle said in a speech at the Make UK National Manufacturing Conference.

Speaking on 3 March, Kyle highlighted the growing role of technologies including artificial intelligence, digital twins and advanced simulation in transforming how products are designed and developed.

The Business Secretary outlined three priorities for the future of the sector: conception (how products are designed), production (how they are manufactured), and utilisation (how they are sold and exported globally).

He also emphasised the importance of skills, apprenticeships and technical education to support the next generation of engineers and technicians.
