Yesterday, we were delighted to welcome Australian-based ImplementSpace to NETPark.
The visit began with a welcome from Sara Williams, NETPark Manager, who shared an overview of the site and its growing innovation and technology ecosystem. We were also joined by Rachel Burdis from the North East Combined Authority, who provided a valuable overview of the North East region and the extensive support available for businesses looking to relocate to or grow within the region.
As part of the visit, we presented an overview of the Space North East England cluster, highlighting the depth of capability across our companies, universities and partners, our strengths across the space value chain, and our ambition for international collaboration and growth.
ImplementSpace then introduced their organisation and outlined their interest in exploring collaboration opportunities within the UK, leading to engaging and productive discussions.
A roundtable session followed, showcasing the strength of our regional academic expertise. We heard from:
• David M., who shared an overview of Northumbria University and the work underway through NESST
• Joanne R., who provided insight into Durham University and the work of the Durham University Space Research Centre (SPARC)
• Matthew Linsley, who highlighted the exciting work at Newcastle University, including the new Aerospace degree launching this September
We were also joined by space cluster companies from across the region, who shared insights into the innovative work they are delivering.
A fantastic day of discussion and international engagement, showcasing the strength of the Space North East England ecosystem and its appetite to collaborate globally.
