Graphene Composites Unveils Breakthrough in Ballistic and Blast Protection

We’re proud to celebrate a major milestone from NETPark-based advanced materials specialist Graphene Composites (GC), who have announced a breakthrough in ballistic and blast protection with the launch of their next-generation GC Shield® technology.

Designed and developed at GC’s base here in Sedgefield, the GC Shield® represents a significant advancement in both vehicle armour and personal protection. The RF2 Shield variant meets STANAG 4569/AEP-55 Level 1 standards for armoured vehicles, offering up to 30% weight reduction compared to conventional solutions. Its unique ability to disperse and reflect impact force makes it highly effective against blast threats.

Commenting on the development, Sandy Chen, CEO of Graphene Composites, said:

“GC Shields are a major advancement in ballistic and blast protection to deliver unprecedented performance in both vehicle armour and personal protection applications. This is not just a leap forward in shield technology – it’s a foundational platform for the next generation of personal and tactical protection systems.”

We’re proud to support GC as they continue to push the boundaries of materials science from their home here at NETPark.
