Organisations across the North East are being invited to help shape a major new programme aimed at driving innovation-led growth in the region.

The Local Innovation Partnerships Fund (LIPF), delivered by UK Research and Innovation (UKRI), is a £500 million national initiative supporting high-potential innovation clusters through collaboration between businesses, universities and the public sector.

The North East is one of ten UK regions selected to receive at least £30 million through the fund, with investment focused on strengthening regional innovation and accelerating economic growth.

The programme is built around “triple helix” partnerships—bringing together civic leaders, industry and academia—to develop coordinated portfolios of activity that build on local strengths.

As part of this, regional partners are now being encouraged to engage with the North East open call, helping to identify opportunities and shape future investment priorities.
