Space North East Cascade and Network - July

Our monthly chance for the North East space community and also those from outside the region to find out the latest news, hear interesting experiences from our speakers and network with each other.

This month we welcome Dinz Dinsley from 3S Northumbria Ltd as well as Jenny Taylor, Assistant Director for Economic Development at Northumbria University.

Dinz was the founder of Northern Space and Security Limited (NORSS) which he set up in 2017 and grew to a 22 strong workforce, this was later acquired by Raytheon UK in July 2022. NORSS was dedicated to developing critical capabilities and experience needed for end-to-end space situational awareness and understanding activities on near earth orbits.

Having recently parted ways with Raytheon NORSS, Dinz has now incorporated 3S Northumbria Ltd and will be joining us to discuss his exciting new projects moving forward.

Jenny joins us from Northumbria university which is home to the Northumbria Space Technology Laboratory (NSTL). NSTL includes all of the state-of-the-art facilities needed for developing and environmentally testing of small payloads for space, as well as a dark room for class-4 lasers and optical system testing.

Northumbria University attracted investment from Gglobal aerospace and security company, Lockheed Martin, back in March for a project that aims to accelerate the delivery of space-based solar power.

Jenny will talk about the University’s ambitious plans for the North East Space Skills and Technology Centre (NESST), with a focus on research and developing skills, teaching and outreach programmes around the space industry.
