Space North East Cascade and Network

Our monthly chance for the North East space community and also those from outside the region to find out the latest news, hear interesting experiences from our speakers and network with each other.

This month we welcome Dr Michael Maughan from MAC SciTech Limited, based at NETPark, as our Local Spotlight speaker. We will also be joined by Robert Fletcher and Lisa Haskell from Airbus located in Reading.

MAC SciTech specialise in leading edge innovations, making future possibilities a reality. They are currently focusing on next-generation Space Life-Support technology and are looking to revolutionise long-duration energy storage on Earth.

Having recently been awarded funding from the UK Space Agency MAC SciTech are taking the lead on a project which will optimise the design and function of the various components of reactor systems designed to recycle breathing gases in off-planet environments such as low Earth orbit, lunar or on Mars.

Michael will be joining us to discuss their progress in off-planet life support technologies as well as touching on opportunities in space biotech, medtech and agritech.

Airbus is the largest space company in Europe, and the UK’s major sovereign space company, they design and manufacture advanced satellites and systems for telecommunications, Earth observation, navigation and science programmes.

Robert and Lisa will be providing an overview of the services they offer and will look to share examples of how the data services provided can deliver actionable insight into numerous applications.
