Plans to expand NETPark have been approved by Durham County Council Cabinet, who have agreed to invest £49.6m to finance the expansion providing up to 270,000 sq ft of new laboratory, office, production and storage space at one of the UK’s premier science parks.
The success of NETPark is such that expansion space is needed so that companies can reach their full potential. The first phase of expansion plans to deliver 270,000 sq ft of additional space with design and build opportunities from 5,000 – 80,000 sq ft in addition to speculative units varying in size to grow, scale-up and commercialise their operations. This initial phase of development is part of larger expansion plans to the park, which includes a Masterplan for up to 433,800 sq ft across the 26-acre site.
Business Durham, who manage NETPark, has forged a strong partnership with Clear Futures – led by the Robertson Group – to design and build the state-of-the-art facilities needed to make Phase Three a reality. Plans will be drawn up working with businesses to deliver laboratory, office, production and storage space of the highest quality.
Recently completed infrastructure work include a new road, creating a junction onto the strategically important A177, and opening up critical development land. This has been made possible by a £5m grant from the North East LEP, as part of the Government’s North East Growth Deal.
