County Durham based company Kromek, a leading developer of radiation and bio-detection technology solutions, is working with Durham University researcher, Dr Janie Ling-Chin to explore the use of a liquid desiccant thermal battery to recover and exploit waste heat to supply the stored energy to end users like Durham County Council. Supported with £50,000 of Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC) Impact Acceleration Account, the project aims to move the technology closer to commercialisation by testing and demonstrating it in live conditions.
