NETPark Life with IBEX Innovations Marketing Specialist Alex Robertson

NETPark Life is a regular feature that we hope will provide insight into the types of people and businesses you’ll find at NETPark, as well as what it’s like to work here in Sedgefield, County Durham from the people who know it best!

In this feature we ask IBEX Innovations Marketing Specialist Alex Robertson about his NETPark Life.

1. How long have you worked at IBEX Innovations and what is a typical day like?

I’ve worked at IBEX for just under a year now and even in that short space of time a lot has changed with my role and my daily responsibilities. As Marketing Specialist, I’m working to spread the word about IBEX through creating content, interacting on social media, and making connections.

I usually start my day by replying to emails and reading the various newsletters I receive on both marketing and medical imaging (usually while drinking the first of many coffees). Since we have a variety of capabilities, I spend a few hours per day creating content revolving around specific capabilities, from news articles to emails to social media posts. The rest of my day is usually spent in meetings, talking to the other members of the team about what they’re working on, and planning for future marketing strategies.

2. What do you like most about your job?

I love the fact that I get to work alongside such an incredible team of scientists, engineers, and business people. IBEX has a really innovative company culture and I think that’s something that everyone on the team thrives on.

I also love the fact that I’ve got creative freedom in my job to try out new directions and approaches. I’ve learned a ton since starting at IBEX.

3. What is the best thing about working at NETPark?

NETPark is a great environment to work in, I believe it mirrors the same culture and feel that I mentioned above. Other companies located in NETPark are working on some really innovative and intriguing products and services. Being surrounded by these like-minded businesses making major technological advances in their field really keeps things fresh and exciting.

4. What do you like to do when you aren’t working?

Outside of work I’m a pretty keen squash player, courts have recently opened back up and I couldn’t be happier! Other than that, I spend a lot of time running, playing guitar, and I also do a bit of freelance digital marketing work in my spare time.

It fits perfectly for us that we’re surrounded by like-minded companies at NETPark. There are a number of highly skilled people in the area who can help us grow our business. The facilities and services offered by NETPark are first class, they make office life simple and engaging.

Stuart Wilson, - CEO, Ascarii

We initially came because of the printable electronics centre but access to a highly skilled semi conductor workforce in the North East has been a key factor in us staying and growing here, as well as the value for money office space and the access to funding.

Ken Williamson, - COO, PragmatIC Printing

CPI has developed a specialist offering to support SMEs looking to develop their printable electronics applications and our partnership with Business Durham has been instrumental in attracting several SMEs to locate here in the region.

Dr Jon Helliwell, - Director of Printable Electronics, CPI

Access to quality facilities was one of the main drivers for deciding to locate the business at the NETPark. We have been able to use this as a launch pad to link into support from CPI and world-class expertise from Durham University.

Steve Clements, - Managing Director, aXenic

The proximity to the universities and the infrastructure are very important factors. Ultimately having a presence in Europe is very valuable to us and we intend to stay at NETPark for many years to come.
