Filtronic, the AIM-listed manufacturer of antennas, filters and products for wireless telecoms, has signed an agreement with a major European defence contractor that could be worth up to £5.7m.
The multi-year supply agreement will involve the company, which has bases in Leeds and Sedgefield and offices in China, USA and Sweden, providing microwave modules for use in aerospace radar systems.
Under the terms of the agreement Filtronic will manufacture and test the modules at its advanced mmWave centre of excellence in Sedgefield.
The company anticipates the potential value of the contract to be between £3m and £5.7m dependent on the final volumes delivered. The agreement is subject to a production process qualification.
Filtronic chief executive Rob Smith said: “We are delighted to have been selected as a supplier of these modules to this prestigious customer.
“We have worked hard to develop opportunities in the defence and aerospace market and this contract flows from the successful ramp of our other defence contracts. This further underwrites our growing credibility in this important market.”
