The heartland of the Industrial Revolution, North East England has always been at the forefront of science, engineering and technology.

One North East, the North East Regional Development Agency, established the Science and Industry Council (SIC) to champion science and innovation in the Region and provide strategic direction.

Dedicated support is available for North East technology businesses in energy, life sciences, process, electronics, design, software and digital via a community of Centres of Excellence, Universities and Innovation Connectors.

For 2007-13 One North East is responsible for implementing the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), which will bring £255M to the region for innovation, enterprise and entrepreneurship. 

NETPark has been chosen as a high priority for investment from this programme.
