Blu Energy Blu Energy

Blu Energy is an independent electricity generator, specialising in small hydro schemes. Blu Energy designs and installs hydropower systems for river owners, but as an independent generator, we also lease sites which we then develop and operate.

Blu Energy is based in Durham and was set up by Chris Henshaw, who has a practical hands-on approach given his farming background and his ongoing agricultural/building contracting business. However he also has a degree in physics from Durham University.

His brother Ed looks after the environmental and hydrological assessments together with regulator permitting and has over 10 years experience in these areas.

As Blu Energy is a member of REAL and has a MCS Hydro Installer Transition Accredition, our projects are eligible for feed-in tariffs.
